Enable simplified dimension entry in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations

What is Enable simplified dimension entry?

“Enable simplified dimension entry” in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations refers to a feature or setting that allows users to streamline the process of entering financial dimensions when recording transactions or posting entries in the system. Financial dimensions are additional pieces of information that can be associated with financial transactions to provide more context or categorization. 

Enabling simplified dimension entry typically means that the system provides a more user-friendly and efficient way to input these dimensions. It might involve reducing the number of required fields, providing default values, or simplifying the user interface to make it easier for users to specify dimensions without a lot of manual data entry.

Before activating “Enable simplified dimension entry”

Go to Human Resources > Setup > Human resources shared parameters.

If enable simplified dimension entry is not enabled.

Go to Human Resources > Positions > All Positions

Select a position, click on Mass update and click on financial dimensions tab.

After activating “Enable simplified dimension entry”

Go to Human Resources > Setup > Human resources shared parameters.

Click on Enable simplified dimension entry and enable the financial dimensions.

 

Go to Human Resources > Positions > All Positions

Select a position, click on Mass update, and click on financial dimensions tab.

When you enable Default financial dimensions, you must see dimension is available.

 

Bugs/Issues

  1. If you disable the “Enable simplified dimension entry” on HR shared parameters and go to Positions mass update, you still see a dimension control.
